- Welcome to testjlpt.com ("we", "us", or "our"). testjlpt.com is an online Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT N5–N1) practice platform that provides mock exams, vocabulary, grammar, kanji and score calculators.
- This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use, store, share and protect it, as well as your rights over your data — including the data we receive when you sign in with your Google account.
- This Privacy Policy forms part of our Terms of Service. By accessing or using this website (including creating an account or signing in), you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
You can view most of the content on this website without signing in or providing any personal information. We only collect the following:
1.1 Information from Google Sign-In
- When you choose "Sign in with Google", we request only the basic scopes: openid, email and profile.
- Through these scopes we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID.
- We do not request or access your Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google data. We never receive or store your Google password.
1.2 Information you provide when registering or using your account
- If you register directly: username, email address and password (stored as a one-way hash that we cannot read).
- Learning data: test results, scores, test history, study progress and your site settings.
- VIP plan information: purchased plan, validity period and transaction ID. We do not store your card details; payments are processed by a third-party payment provider.
- Content you send us, such as support emails, feedback or comments.
1.3 Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type (user agent), operating system, access time and pages viewed.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).
- We do not collect your precise GPS location.
1.4 Comments
- When you leave a comment, we store the form data, your IP address and user agent to help detect spam. An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to display your avatar (Gravatar privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/).
- If you upload images, avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as other visitors may extract it.
2. Google User Data
- Data accessed: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID (see Section 1.1).
- How we use it: only to (1) create your account and authenticate you, (2) display your name and profile picture in your account, (3) save your test results and learning progress to your account, and (4) contact you about your account or VIP plan when necessary.
- No advertising use: we do not use Google user data (name, email, profile picture, Google ID) to serve ads or build advertising profiles, we do not share it with Google AdSense or any other ad network, and we do not use it to train AI/machine-learning models. Ads on this website (see Section 5.1) operate independently and do not receive your account data.
- No selling or sharing: we do not sell, rent or transfer your Google user data to third parties, except to our hosting provider that stores data on our behalf (under confidentiality obligations) or when required by law.
- Storage and protection: data is stored on our website servers, transmitted over encrypted HTTPS (SSL/TLS) connections, and accessible only to authorized administrators.
- Retention and deletion: data is kept while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 8); your data will be deleted from our systems within 30 days.
- Revoking access: you can revoke testjlpt.com's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Limited Use disclosure: testjlpt.com's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. How We Use Information
- To create, authenticate and manage your account.
- To save test results, calculate scores, and track and display your learning progress.
- To activate and manage VIP plans and confirm payments.
- To provide user support, answer questions and handle complaints.
- To send necessary notices about your account, our services or changes to our policies.
- To analyze aggregated traffic statistics in order to improve our content and website performance.
- To display ads through Google AdSense so the website can remain free (ads are based on cookies, not on your account data — see Section 5.1).
- To detect and prevent spam, fraud and unauthorized access.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We only share information in the following cases:
- Service providers that help us operate the website, only to the extent necessary: our hosting provider, a website analytics service (e.g. Google Analytics — traffic data only, not your Google account data), our payment provider for VIP plans, Google AdSense for displaying ads (receives only cookie and browser technical data, not your account data), and the Gravatar service for comments. These providers must keep the information confidential and may not use it for any other purpose.
- Legal requirements: when required by law or by a competent authority.
- Protection: to protect the rights, property and safety of us, our users or others.
- With your consent.
5. Cookies
- Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to keep you signed in, remember your language and display preferences, and measure website traffic.
- When you sign in, login cookies last about two days (or two weeks if you select "Remember Me"); display-preference cookies last up to one year. Login cookies are removed when you log out.
- If you leave a comment, your name, email and website may be saved in cookies so you do not have to re-enter them.
- You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features (such as signing in) may not work.
5.1 Google AdSense Advertising
- We use Google AdSense to display ads on this website. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites on the Internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites. Learn how Google uses data when you use its partners' sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
- For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before using personalized advertising cookies, through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP).
- Google AdSense does not receive your account information on this website (name, email, Google Sign-In data or learning results).
6. Data Retention
- Account data, Google user data and learning data: kept while your account is active; deleted within 30 days after you request account deletion.
- VIP transaction records: may be kept longer where required by accounting or tax laws.
- Comments: kept until you request removal or the comment is deleted.
- Technical logs (IP address, user agent): kept for up to 12 months.
7. Data Security
- The entire website uses HTTPS (SSL/TLS) to encrypt data in transit.
- Passwords are stored as one-way hashes; database access is restricted to authorized administrators; servers are protected by firewalls and receive regular security updates.
- No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to minimize risks. Please do not share your account password with anyone.
8. Your Rights: Access, Correction and Deletion
- View and update your account information on your profile page.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data (including data received from Google) by emailing [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion request" from your account's email address. We will confirm and delete your data within 30 days.
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Revoke Google Sign-In access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Opt out of non-essential email notifications.
9. Children
- Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users under the age of majority in their jurisdiction must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to create an account.
- If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
- Our website may contain links to, or embedded content (videos, images, etc.) from, other websites. Those websites may collect data and use cookies under their own policies; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. For material changes affecting how we use Google user data, we will notify you on the website or by email and obtain your consent where required by law or Google policy.
